Goodbye Cindrich

I am moving to Morgan Elementary in September. I really enjoyed being the teacher-librarian at Cindrich for the last nine years. It was so amazing to get to know all the students and watch them grow and learn.

I wish everyone a happy, safe summer. Keep reading over the summer, I know I will be. Check out all the fun things the Surrey Libraries website has to offer.

The grade 7's favourite books are here!

Each year the grade 7 students pick their favourite book that they read while in elementary school. We purchase the book for the library. Check out the inside of each book; the students tell us why they love the book.

It is voting time for the Surrey School's Picture Book of the Year!

Happy Earth Day

April 22 is Earth Day and here at the Library Learning Commons at Cindrich we celebrate all month long. Grab a book and learn more about what YOU can do to help our planet.
 

February is Kindness Month

February brings Valentine's Day and pink shirt day. The library has lots of great books about kindness and dealing with bullying.  February is a great month to find a book you love ❤  Check out our display of all the reasons we love our library.

 

 

Something new in the Library Learning Commons

You can now search for books using our iPads on the new stands. One student said "Wow, this is just like Tim Hortons!" If you need any help come and see Mrs. Kingdon.

The Parthenon was recreated using our 3D printer

Khushi in Div1 has been doing a project on the Parthenon. She made a model of it using the 3D printer. Look at the picture - on the bottom right hand side is a real image of the Parthenon. She made her model to look just like the real thing. Khushi just might be a future engineer or architect.

 

More and more students are getting into 3D printing.

Dehesa F and Hena S got together and created a present for their teacher, Mr. Mischianti.

 

The girls have joined in the 3D printing fun!

Shreya S. and Khushi B. designed a keychain and printed it on the 3D printer. Can you guess what the initials stand for?

The boys have been busy.

Vivek S, Luke S & Karanveer S worked together to create & print an iPhone case.

They are at it again!!!

Karanveer S, Aryan S, Ranvir S & Arsh S created a Pokey ball on the computer and printed it successfully using the 3D printer. If you want to find out more about their creation go down to Division 1 and they will be happy to tell you about it.

 

Cindrich's First 3D Engineers

Karanveer S., Arsh S. And Arman D. from Division 1 are the first students to create and print something on our 3D printer. They made a mini soccer ball. Stay tuned ... They have more creations coming!

It is fall...

Come and check out some great books!

Last year's grade seven students chose their favourite book and it was purchased for our library. Each book has a name plate inside with the student's name and what they liked about the book. Come down and see these great books.

 

And the reading continues ...

... all summer long. Sign up at any Surrey Public Library to join the Summer Reading Club. Read just 15 minutes a day, record it on the reading record you receive and you can collect stickers and earn a medal. There are lots of fun activities at the library, check it out:

Our Kindergartens Can Recycle!

Our kindergarten students have been learning how to take care of the earth and are now expert recyclers. They can identify which items are plastic, glass and paper. They can sort disposable items and decide if they are compostable, recyclable, collectable or trash. 

 

April is Earth Month!

April 22 is Earth Day and the whole month of April we are learning how we can take care of the Earth. Come down to the Library Learning Commons and check out all our books about the Earth and the environment. I may only be one person, but I can be one person who makes a difference. We Are Learning How to Code!

Do you know what an algorithm is? What is a program? If you are not sure ask a grade four student. They have been learning a little bit about coding. And it is fun. You might want to download one of the apps we have been using and try it yourself. The app is called Cargo-Bot. Enjoy!
